UNDERARM BOTOX.

Sally Mann, PA to Red's editor and publisher, braved multiple Botox injections for the sake of a sweat-free summer...

I went to a wedding last year and within an hour had sweat marks on my dress, so I loved the idea of saying goodbye to sweat.

Axillary Hyperhidrosis – that's science-speak for having Botox injections in your armpits – blocks the nerves that trigger sweat glands, apparently stopping tell-tale marks on clothes for around eight months afterwards. If it's good enough for Hollywood stars, who have it to stop sweat soiling their silk Armani numbers, it's good enough for me.

I expected a beauty salon but the Boston Clinic (UK) Ltd. is more like a doctor's surgery and I was treated by a nurse in full scrubs, so the whole thing felt quite medical. Each underarm area was numbed with cream and injected 25 times and I didn't really feel anything at all. I felt fine afterwards, although my underarms were a bit numb and covered in tiny pin pricks. A few days later, I thought I'd give it a real test and went out without any deodorant on at all. After sitting in the garden in the hot sun all day, my underarms were as dry as a bone. I've also been running and while my forehead was sweaty, my underarms remained dry - fantastic!
