TUMMY TUCK OR ABDOMINOPLASTY
What is abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)?
Abdominoplasty is procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower abdominal area, also repositioning the belly button (umbilicus).
Mini-abdominoplasty
also can be performed below the umbilicus to remove surplus
skin and fat. Both procedures will leave you with low abdominal
scar at the level of pubic hair.
Apronectony – is a modified mini abdominal reduction.
Mainly for the excess hanging skin and fat.
How do I know if I need/ I am suitable for this procedure?
- The surgery is particularly helpful to women whose pregnancies have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal.
- Weight loss may also be responsible for both in women and men – which may cause problem of sagging, loose or excess skin.
What does procedure involve?
Tummy
tuck or Abdominoplasty usually takes two to three hours. Mini
tummy tuck usually takes an hour or two. Most commonly, an
incision is made across the lower abdomen, just above the
pubic area which follows bikini line. A second small incision
is made to free the navel from the surrounding tissue. Then
the surgeon will free the abdominal wall and large excess
skin flap to reveal the vertical abdominal muscles in your
abdomen.
These muscles are then pulled together and stitched into a
new position so that they are tighter. This will give firmer,
flatter abdomen and narrow waistline.
