PINNAPLASTY OR OTOPLASTY OR SETTING BACK PROMINENT EARS

Pinnaplasty is an operation to adjust the shape of the cartilage within the ear to create the missing folds and allow the ear to lie closer to the side of the head.

What is involved?

Approximately 1 to 2% of the population in UK considers their ears to be too prominent. The operation is carried out from behind the ears; a small scar is left close to the groove between the ear and the side of the head. This procedure can be carried out under local or general anesthetic.

What is the recovery time?

A small protective dressing is usually removed within 3-5 days. Stitches are removed within 5-10 days after surgery. Protective head bandage or band is advised to wear when sleeping to avoid the ears being bent forward against pillow. You can return to work within one or two weeks after the surgery. This procedure is usually carried at early age of life.

How much will it cost?

From £2500.
