BREAST REDUCTION
What is breast reduction?
Is surgically reshaping very large breast to increase or decrease
a woman’s comfort and improve the appearance.
The excessive weight of large, pendulous droopy breasts may
cause a variety of problems, back and neck pain, skin irritation,
breathing or even posture deformities. Breast reduction can
help to remove excess fatty glandular tissue and skin from
the breast to make them smaller, lighter and firmer. Although
breast reduction scars can be long and permanent, they are
usually very well accepted by most patients. Your body will
look better proportioned and clothes will fit better.
What is involved?
Breast reduction is not a simple operation but performed by highly qualified plastic surgeon, it is normally very safe. It is usually performed under general anesthetic but local anesthetic is possible for selective individuals. The most common procedure involves an anchor-shaped incision that circles the areola and extends downwards in a vertical line which follows the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. The surgeon will remove excess glandular tissue, fat and skin and move the nipple and areola up into their new position; then the skin from both sides of the breast down and around the areola. Shaping the new contour of the breast. At the same time Liposuction may be used to remove excess fat from the armpit area to further improve the shape of the new breast.
